Embroidered leather shoes- Mojadi or Jootis are made all
over Rajasthan, the most refined work is found in Jaipur and
Jodhpur. Brass-ware chased, engraved, enameled, lacquered, inlay
punching, casting and encrusted is a specialty of Rajasthan,
covering a wide range of products lake vases, perforated lamps,
tabletops, bowls, planters, boxes, picture frames, swords, shields,
etc.
Marble Stone Crafts :
Marble objects range from decorative plates to boxes and animal
figures. Even miniature paintings are done on marble. Jaipur is the
main center for exquisite marble objects. Rajasthan red sandstone is
very much in demand.
Paintings :
Within Rajasthan, several schools of art flourish. Rajasthani art
can be seen on the frescoed walls of Shekhawati. But if you want to
take a painting home, you can choose from miniatures, phad
paintings, pichwais and even paintings done on marble. Some
paintings available for sale are painted on paper many centuries
old. Gem-dust and gold are ingeniously employed to add colors and
luster to the paintings.
Thewa Art :
Thewa is a jewelry craft practiced by a handful of artisans who
specialize in the art of fusing filigreed gold sheets onto glass.
The craft of thewa is practiced by these hereditary artisans in the
small fortified town of Pratapgarh in Rajasthan. This unique craft
uses plaques of glass as its base material.
